How to Choose the Right Bed for Your Dog

A good bed does more than look nice in the living room. It gives your dog a place that feels safe, supports their joints and helps them get the deep rest they need.

1. Watch how your dog sleeps

Dogs who curl up into a ball usually love round, bolstered beds that let them lean against a raised rim. Dogs who sprawl out do better on flat, rectangular beds or mats with room to stretch.

2. Measure before you buy

Measure your dog from nose to base of tail while they're lying down, then add 15–20 cm. If they're between sizes, size up.

3. Think about support

Puppies and young dogs are happy on plush fill. Senior dogs, large breeds and dogs with stiff joints benefit from memory foam or orthopedic support.

4. Make cleaning easy

Look for a removable, machine-washable cover and a non-slip base. A bed that's easy to wash is a bed that stays fresh.
