5 Ways to Keep an Indoor Cat Happy

Indoor cats live longer, safer lives, but they still need ways to climb, hunt and explore. These small changes make a big difference.

1. Go vertical

Cats love to survey their territory from above. A cat tree or a few wall shelves give them height, exercise and a safe retreat.

2. Give them something to scratch

Scratching keeps claws healthy and relieves stress. Place a sturdy scratcher near their favourite nap spot or by the sofa they keep eyeing.

3. Play like prey

Two short play sessions a day with a wand toy, followed by a meal, mimics their natural hunt-eat-sleep rhythm.

4. Create cozy hideaways

A covered bed or a quiet condo gives shy cats a place to recharge.

5. Keep routines steady

Cats find comfort in predictability, so feed and play at roughly the same times each day.
